Dude your lucky getting to see an airshow. The defense budget was short (go figure) on Elmendorf Airforce Base here, so they didn't have the air show this year. My favorite part is they do a mini battle re-enactment complete with big explosions from A-10s and 50mm Cannons. Its fuggan sweet.
I would say start traveling before the snow falls, but being away from home for so long I realize that the rest of the contiguous united states doesn't have that problem. By Halloween we should have at least a foot and a half of snow. Leaves have all turned here and are on the ground. Getting cool quick!
Anyway, as I said before, I still recommend traveling with your resume and portfolio, because you might find something cool on your trip. Being the new guy and last on the seniority list (how strange that feels) at work I have to work 9 days before I get my two day weekend working the relief shift. It blows! But I can't complain, the money is decent and if I do complain they will can me since I am still on probation until February.

We didn't have any of the battle reenactment stuff. That would have been incredible. We had a wall of fire thing but that was real short and all the pyro we saw. As for snow, I'll be driving the northern states first and hopefully by Halloween I'll be on the warmer side of the Mason-Dixon line.
