Oh, man - the working from home-not-home sounds awesome. What kind of cars have you been looking at? If you're looking for a sporty convertible, the Honda S2000 wins Top Gear's motoring survey year after year. People really seem to love it. For my money, though, I'd get a Lotus Elise... if I had a spare $45K just lying around, and I had no need for a practical car. :D Or, if you've got a spare $100K, just go for a Tesla. Bwahahaha.
I don't think the S2000 would fit UBoat. It was several inches short for me, and he's almost as tall as I am. Seems like a fun little car, but it's _tiny_. Same for the Miata, of course - I felt like a clown in that car.
The Beetle might be good - decent storage volume with the back seat folded down, and of course, tons of headroom. I couldn't find a turbo Beetle with a stick shift when I was looking, though. The Mini was reasonably spacious as well.
I felt like I fit just fine into the S2000 - I imagine a Lotus/Tesla might be a tight squeeze, but more like 'snug' than too small. Or maybe that's because the level of performance for the price is so utterly absurd that I'd be willing to tolerate a bit of uncomfortableness. :)
Weird. I didn't even test drive the S2000 because sitting in the showroom model my eye level was above the top of the windshield, so I would never have been able to close the roof. And I thought I remembered that even with the seat all the way back, the steering wheel was between my knees. Anyway.

I think I can find something to do with that $100K...
