Cat and Questionnaire stuff

Wah. Am grumpy since 'rents are nagging about my stubborn plan to bring Noki to the UK with me. I've tried to reason with their complaints with "if you adopted a child, would you just take it back because you're moving?!?" and so on, but argh. Also, comments of "there's no-one here to take her but linda_joyce in Wales has offered, in case I can't keep her ( Read more... )

memery, the black beast of aaaaargh

Whenever my hamsters die my mother is always on at me not to get another. Then it was "Why don't you wait until you've been on holiday to get one." etc.

They finally got the hint however and the small and furries have cages to stay in when I visit in all family member's households.

Keep at it, and I am sure you'll find somewhere that will allow you to keep cats when you get here.

The stupidest thing about it is that my parents won't have to deal with it *anyway*, and that Noki has a better chance of a good home in the UK than she does in here--nobody up here would take her. So to the UK she will go. She'll just have to learn British cat sounds...

Or I will have to learn to understand Finish . Noki will always be welcome here as will as will her human slave.%P

Oh, I know. We're spending around $200/month to keep our cat alive. Everybody says "Why don't you put her down?" The answer is her quality of life is still pretty good as long as she gets saline injections every two days, and we've had her for 18 years, and she is family. Why don't they put their grandmothers down?

My point exactly. Pets are easier to get on with than humans, anyway...

Yes, I had exactly the same argument with my parents, and then so did my sister. In the end my cat has moved countries with me twice now, and while it would have been much easier without him, he is a part of the family. You don't abandon family.

*nod* there are far too many homeless pets out there already, and for exactly the same "reasons" shallow people keep banging on about.

I am totally with you on Noki. She's a creature with brains, emotions, and a loving soul, and when people take animals as companions, its a commitment for life. I could never give mine away, even to a loving home.

You go, girl!

Thank you. Now to get that into my parents' heads. They're not the ones who have to cart the cat around, so it's not their problem anyway. Grr.

I have just realised that I have been in full time employment longer than Grousie has walked this Earth. Gods I'm old.

I can't wait to see what I'm like in twenty or thirty years, as I've already got the metabolism of a post-menopausal woman and the cynicism to match...
