Tumblr confusion, randomness

I'm confused about the people on Tumblr who only ever like just about every post you make but never reblog. o_O I suppose that's the way they use their blogs and stuff, and maybe they like through one account and reblog the stuff to others (like I have to do because I was dumb enough to create the snowgrouse account and only ever blog stuff to aikainkauna and kissinthedreamhouse). But it does feel a bit weird. I swear to god someone just liked like 25 posts of mine today. And while that's nice, I'm still WTF. It's a weird sort of lurkery thing, IDK. I'm not upset or anything, but I always do wonder why people do that. (Am I also the only graphics maker on there who feels that a like instead of a reblog feels like a "you tried" star in a sort of "ok, nice try, but not good enough for my blog" sense?) Likes are really cool for jokes and comments and whatnot, but what with the way Tumblr works, unless a post takes off and spreads, it remains in a bit of a vacuum. So I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about that. Again, I appreciate the pats on the back and they are better than nothing, but of course, what makes a graphics maker/clown happiest on that particular blog service is when stuff gets appreciated enough so that people want to share it with their readers. A reblog vs. a like is like some sort of threshold of awesome a post is judged by or something.

*facepalm* Oh, god, it's such a popularity contest and I'm not good with those! Even if I would lie if I said I didn't enjoy it when my art gets appreciated. It's not so much about a bazillion notes but knowing that the stuff works for at least a part of the target audience, I suppose. Like, I'm this close to deleting the Virgin advert Dave post where he smashes a loading pinwheel with a baseball bat because I'm really not interested in the 150 000th note for that one. Especially since the gag wasn't mine but some advertising agency's. But I'm over the fucking moon at 46 people having laughed at that time I described the Rains/Veidt outcamping contest in Casablanca in the style of a sportscaster. Especially when old movie fandom is small and the only crazysuccessful Connie posts are the German silent ones all of Tumblr's goths go nuts over. So it's all very confusing.

Having said that, LJ seriously needs a like button, though. Theyv'e implemented all kinds of other stupid Facebooky crap nobody even wants, so what the hell's up with that? Oh, wait, it's something people might actually want and might find useful. I forgot.

Also, I had a dream where Gareth Thomas was giving me voicegasms. It was a good dream.

Also 2: I may have actually got a summary for my current fic of doom. Emphasis on "may". Now I only need to make a header graphic for it that isn't shite. I'm very tempted to draw something, but that'd take several days and I just want to post this motherfucker already.

Also 3: I got my laptop back after it'd been in repairs for five fucking weeks. They'd replaced the motherboard TWICE. This bastarding thing had better work now, that's all I'm saying.
