Telly and and stuff

-Uncontrollably excited about Christmas telly:3 I saw a proper trailer for Spies of Warsaw and it actually looked like it could be, you know, not shit. And even if it turns out to be crap, it looks like there's a ridiculous amount of scantily clad Dave prettiness, so that's good. There were bits where I really went "DAMN" at the screen, which is a good sign, because there really isn't enough Daveporn in my life right now. And then there's the Who Christmas special and I've just seen the costume porn involved and I think the combination of REG and Jenna-Louise Coleman is just going to send me into a stupor of lust, I'm sure. Matt's coat isn't looking bad either. Unf.

-Still not feeling it for Everyday, and hope people aren't expecting me to provide d/l links or something. Hurry up, John, and do something that doesn't make me want to slit my wrists.

-Speaking of d/l links, ahem, um, were people still interested in checking out Conrad Veidt films? Because, um, there might be a thing here, not that I would know anything about it.

-Also, there's a library sale on in a few hours. I'm already making mental preparations. My bank account is not going to like this, but then again, books. Who needs food?

-Speaking of books and money, the book I crave the most right now is... yeah, ok, out of bounds. Especially when many used booksellers seem to have tripled their prices for Christmas. 1000 pounds? For something that isn't an illuminated medieval manuscript? Are you fucking joking? Especially since I'm sure the hardcover versions are the 1987 edition and not the 1992 edition which has 100 pages of new stuff and photos and everything. And I'm pretty sure the cheaper used copy is the 1987 edition, too. I tried looking for the 1992 version in libraries and even rang my local library to ask them if they could get it for me as an inter-library loan, but they couldn't find a copy for loan in all of fucking Scandinavia. The Swedish Film Institute had a copy but they were refusing to loan it out. Apparently I'd have to travel to either Sweden or the UK and read it in a library. This... this is giving me huge flashbacks to fandom in the olden days and how difficult it was to get hold of stuff back then. It's kind of strange when something *isn't* easily available online. Talk about an obscure interest. I mean, ok, I have been known to beat my head against a wall at not finding digital copies of papers analysing goddess narratives and the themes of purity and violence South Indian folk dances but *anyway*. Duuuude.

-The cat is actually chirping. I'd better go and investigate.

doctor who, timecock, books, conrad veidt, daaaaaaaaaaaaave, the black beast of aaaaargh
