We finally finished chapter 12 of the Persiafic last night. It was a long and insanely plotty and research-intensive chapter, too. And a long one at that: I just checked the finalised version and it's 13 265 words long. Bloody hell. I think we used almost every single one of our OCs in it, too, from minor guards to major antagonists to horses and cheetahs and even the OCs had tragedies of their own. But at least now, most of the main subplot is out of the way and we can focus on just pure, intense character/slash stuff for the last two chapters.
Also it was the first chapter in which I did some of the actual writing to help
versaphile polish it up, and I'm glad that seems to have helped the process quite a bit, even if my prose isn't anywhere near as full and as colourful and as cinematic as hers. I write very condensed prose poetry-type stuff and am much better with emotions rather than action or plot; she is great at plotty longfic. But combining the two seems to have worked wonderfully and we have oodles of pretty fic and beautiful, dramatic scenes aplenty :3
And now I wish I had some alcohol to get me through the BAFTAs tonight. Why isn't there a live feed from the red carpet?
ETA: ah,
RT has a liveblog.
