Fry, Shakespeare, Daev, BLESSED, crap Swedish cops

Fry's Planet Word was so good. I was all :D for Daves in this week's ep, but it was Brian Blessed who made me go O_O the most. Holy fucking shit. I won't spoil it for you, but it's the bit where he was talking about Shakespeare to students. HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT. Just when I thought I couldn't love this many any more. (ETA: you can now view the clip here.)

Of course, the mentions of songwriters as wordsmiths made me go on a minor Leonard Cohen binge, so that was good. Although I was disappointed when I read about k.d. lang's cover of Hallelujah being supposedly the best ever, and... eh. I was kind of surprised, as that woman can fucking kill me with her voice at times. If she'd done it in her soft, sensitive, whispery voice I would probably have melted into a puddle of goo, but the versions I found on YouTube were a bit too Celine Dion power ballad-y for me in bits. Just... no. But then again, it's probably one of the most over-covered songs of all time (and I'm probably the only person on the planet who prefers Cohen's versions).

Wallander continues to make me yell at the screen with its repeated logic fail. Yeah, Wallander, go and interrogate a dying woman and make sure the paramedics can't get to her and do anything to possibly, you know, save her life so she can talk to you later. Also, every episode seems to have a scene where he goes to a crime scene and fondles things and gets his fingerprints all over the evidence. *sigh* No, even Tortured Copper Mode doesn't give you an excuse to be that dumb. Ah, well, it's not like I watch this show for him but for this little shit who keeps being pretty and who's apparently had all of the Öresund strait poured into his eyes to make them so impossibly sea-green and gah:

Also, speaking of classically trained beanpole actors who should stop being so impossibly gorgeous: the bone structure of this man's shoulders is fucking perfect and let's just forget that stupid-ass haircut for a bit and just focus on the PERFECT.

stephen fry, brian blessed, leonard cohen, tom hiddleston, daaaaaaaaaaaaave, telly
