-Blessed yells some more.
-Brett is pretty. Very pretty. And d'Artagnan has new clothes. POSING TIEM.
-Athos has a fucking huge conk. So huge I first thought the dude was Peter Jeffrey. But it's Jeremy Young instead. Who's in
everything ever. A bit like everyone else in this.
-Richard Pasco makes a wonderfully sneaky Richelieu.
-Oh dear GOD, they're totally coding Rochefort as gay. Richelieu asks him if Constance Bonacieux is pretty, and he's baffled. There are, like, crazy anvils like this all throughout. So, apparently, the blondness is a part of the coding, to make him seem more effeminate. Don't ask me, it's not like this sort of thing ever made any sense.
"Womans? Pretti? Whu? I only care for ze pretti Gascon boi."
-Oh YES, as in the books, d'Artagnan/Athos=OTFUCKINP. Note how adoring d'Artagnan is already.
-Oh my fucking god YES, Grimaud is played by Milton Johns! Benik off Enemy of the World! This is like a WORLD of Troughton-era camp, really.
"Heh heh heh heh heh."
-Although what the FUCK. Planchet's a pretty little twink?!?!? Couldn't get a good cap of him yet.
-Ah, BLESS. D'Artagnan, to Aramis about Mme Chevreuse: "IS SHE YOUR MISTRESS?" AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, the country boi with no tact whatsoever. They certainly have the characterisation right. <333333333333333333
-AND BRIAN BLESSED'S ENTIRE DIALOGUE IS IN CAPSLOCK. I HAVE SO MUCH FUCKING GLEE.
-I love that all of the Queen's dialogue of Lovestruck Angst is accompanied by dramatic, swelling, romantic music. <333333333333333
-And her and Constance=BFF. Constance swears she'll sacrifice even her life to bring the Queen and Buckingham together! DUN DUN DUN. This bodes well for further faithfulness to the book.
-OH! Posing on a balcony, every inch the romantic hero. <33333333333333333
...and as soon as I say that, Planchet bursts in: "Master, do you plan to keep me?" AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. YOU CANNOT MAKE THIS UP.
...and the moment I say THAT, d'Artagnan discovers Planchet has been eavesdropping, and CHASES HIM UNTIL HE STUMBLES ON THE BED, d'Artagnan himself with his shirt open and thigh-high boots on and about to whip him. Sadly, I can't get good caps of that scene, but you'll just have to trust me on that. That's what happens in this blurry frame, I swear.
-And then he done save Constance from the Cardinal's mans. And he is in love.
And that was episode 2. Sorry, you're going to have to put up with more of this. I can't seem to stop.
