I watched
The Fountain earlier today.
I highly recommend it. It's... just amazing. It balances heartbreak and death with hope and renewal. It's visually un-fucking-believeable, so beautiful it's not true. The Wiki article I linked to above will spoil the plot, but also helps understand it.
I found myself crying, actually sobbing uncontrollably at some points; at the beauty of it, at the heartbreak...
And Hugh Jackman is bloody amazing in it. He isn't my "type", but his sorrow just pulled me in. And Rachel Weisz is gorgeous and wonderful, too. So brave, so bold...
I can't tell you much more without spoiling it, but it's a science fiction/fantasy movie, with a non-linear narrative, and with deep philosophical undertones.
I can only say that it made me cry like a baby, and that my life has been enriched by this film. It's definitely worth seeing.
And the tears, at the end, were tears of relief and joy.
It goes without saying that Clint Mansell's amazing score for it, combined with the intriguing storytelling and good acting, *made* the film for me. It's harrowing, powerful, gorgeous.
But, yes. Darren Aronofsky is a bleedin' genius. Find it and watch it:)!
