My love of video games comes in short bursts, or phases. For a few months, I will be absolutely rabid with game fever, devouring a new level in every spare hour. This sickness grips me in its thrall long enough for me to finish one, maybe two, whole games in my free time. And then, quite suddenly, the fever will ease, the obsession slowly melting away, until I find the game boring, uninteresting. I begin to dream of books, writing, doing crosswords or sudoku. And gradually, the controller spends more and more time on the table, gathering a slight layer of dust, the console lifeless with not even a dormant red light.
Until the fever grips me again.
Well, now is that time. A pity that I am not at home with my Wii. Shall have to make do with the DS, and my Japanese copy of Phantom Hourglass.
