why i should never be allowed near books when there are chores to be done

Today was all set to be super-productive. I would ship boxes at the post office, I would get change for all of my 1 yen coins at the bank, I would sort the garbage to throw out for tomorrow, and the apartment would sparkle with cleanliness. And all by 5pm. That was the goal, yes.
Now, while the first three items on the list were certainly accomplished (before noon even!), that last, big ticket item of cleaning was never even started. And why, you may ask?
The first thing I set out to do was take the old books left by previous AETs out to the storage shed. I gathered them up in my arms to carry them; then one slipped out and fell on the floor. These are all grubby, old, half torn up books, so I had never paid much attention to them. The one that had fallen out appeared to be an old copy of The Count of Monte Cristo. It's one of those few classic literature titles that I had never read, so I paused for a minute to read the first few pages. Just to see what it was like, and whether I might be interested in picking up a copy and reading it at some later date. Gradually, the other books were deposited on the floor and a few pages turned into ten pages...
Fast forward 7 hours later, to the final chapter of the book. >_<

Oh, yes. I am exactly that weak. :P Thankfully, I still have all day tomorrow to clean. But, still. It would have made life easier if I could have cleaned today. Even a little.
