I finally made okonomiyaki! It's a bit like an omelette, but you add fish, meat, veggies, seaweed flakes, sauce and mayo. I put pork and some veggies on top of mine, with just the sauce, no mayo. But it turned out delicious! And I have enough leftover batter to fix it again for dinner tomorrow night. Before anyone asks, I did not actually make it from scratch - a box of instant okonomiyaki flour was involved, with pre-ground seaweed flakes in a packet. It's still an accomplishment, given how much of a lazy bones I am after work. :P
Received a delightful packaged today from an unexpected source. It does include some wonderful music, though; and the CDs have been making me smile all evening. Doesn't hurt that I don't need a track list to recognize most of the songs. ;P Nothing like mail to brighten a dull day.
Shibu is going through a major cold and flu epidemic. There aren't enough of the 8th graders to form a full class, so the school announced today that the students in that grade could stay home until further notice - i.e. until the rest of the class gets healthy again. The 7th graders have started to get sick, but without as many absent from school. But the teachers aren't taking chances. This whole week, they have been ending school early so that all the students can go home early to rest, with less chance of infecting each other at clubs. Here's hoping I am not infected after three days there! *crosses fingers*
I've been watching more of the new Doctor Who, season two to be exact. After the School Reunion episode, I desperately wish I had access to episodes of old Doctor Who. Sarah Jane and K-9 were awesome, and I'd love to see more of those two. Rose, clinging to the Doctor with her incredible jealousy of any other woman within two feet of him, annoys the hell out of me.
Oh, and I have my big wool blanket back from the cleaners, and it appears fine now. I haven't taken it out of its plastic wrap yet, but I think I will if it gets cold again. The dry cleaner said that occasional cleanings ought to keep the bugs away from it. Another AET recommended rubbing dryer sheets on it; but they don't have dryers here, so I can't actually do that.
Um, I continue to write things, and ponder the future. Not much to report there. Still floating...
