One piece of advice to anyone considering private loans: IF YOU DON'T NEED THEM, DON'T GET THEM!
Unfortunately, I had to get them, and I had no idea they would put me in so much in debt. Not to mention, the only repayment options they offer require $600+ a month. That's as much as I pay for my rent and bills... and I can barely do that sometimes.
To make things worse, the jobs I want in publishing are not exactly lucrative.
And you know whose fault it is (besides mine for picking an expensive school on the opposite end of the country)? Those fuckheads that dole out the federal loans. Because, apparently, if you are lower middle class, all you need for schooling is a $5,000 loan. You should be able to pay the other $25,000 a year. That makes complete sense.
