It's only a Tuesday, but it's already been a terrible, god-awful week. The mystery of the pain in my hand (which has been going on for almost a month now) has been solved. My piano teacher (granted, he's not a doctor, but he's seen it all) thinks it's a combination of carpal tunnel and tendinitis, since my hand is now hurting in three different ( Read more... )

Ok, so here's the deal. I can meet with you sometime when I get back and share the Magical Technique I'm learning here with you. I had wrist/hand/arm pain before I came here, and now I can play pieces I never would've dreamed I could play, getting LESS tense the whole time.

I would LOVE to help you out and share the love!

awww, thanks for the support. i was also hoping that maybe some good could come from this. my piano teacher is always talking about how tense my hands are when i play (i'm naturally a very tense, uptight person) so practicing loosening them up could help.

Ah, but there is a METHOD to learning to do that. It doesn't come from a general, think-really-hard-about-being-loose mentality. That doesn't work. I tried it.

I wish I had your dedication. My limit's three hours, and only after quite a bit of suffering. I'm just not that into it, I guess.

I'll def call you over April Vaca. I guess that rules out tennis? I hope your wrist(s) feel better soon!

it's okay if you're not that into piano. you still do choir and sing about a hundred times better than me.

yeah, no tennis for me. but it's not like it's warm enough out to go play tennis anyway.

i hate not being into something though. everytime i sit down to play piano, i feel a bit guilty/angry at myself for not trying harder.
