Well, Jason and I have been in Chicago for a little over a week. I start work in 2 days. I'm working at World Market. I love the store, so I'm kind of excited about it. They can't take me on full time right now, but that could change once January rolls around (as long as I'm still there). I'm still basically guaranteed 30 hours a week, so that's definitely better than being unemployed. It's weird having a "real" job again. The last time this happened, it was 4 years ago and I was working for Publix. Anyway, it's very easy to get to, it's on the North/Clyborn stop on the red train. Then, just a block away and you're there!!! So, it will be VERY easy to get to work everyday.
I've found that one of the best things about the city is that you rarely have to drive. We used the car for the first time in 10 days to go to Wal-Mart today because you can get to everywhere else by taking the train and/or bus. Wal-Mart would have been able to be avoided, but I needed a cheap vacuum that worked on both hard floors and carpets, and I wanted some cheap plastic hangers (since I haven't been able to hang up my clothes yet). I also bought 2 polo shirts for $3 each because I need them for work. I bought smalls, but they hang down to my mid-thigh.... but it's ok because I'll tuck them in. Besides, I'm wearing them for WORK not FASHION.
In other news, our friend Maggie keeps telling us that she's going to see us now that we're in the city, but that's yet to happen. We've seen our friend April (who came over last weekend and perhaps will come over again tonight?). We also got to see our friend Nicole while she was in the city going to a callback for Kiss of the Spiderwoman down at the Bailiwick Theatre. I need to call Gina. She totally called us while we were moving in... and I've yet to call her back.
So, I guess that's about it for now. I love Chicago, and I'm so happy that the soonest I will be moving is next September! Catch you all later.
