Dr. House takes on God!
This was a pretty strong episode. The pacing was pleasantly different; a patient who confounds the doctors by NOT DYING ON SCHEDULE is a welcome change of pace from the usual gallery of people with mystery diseases who always seem to crash right before the commercial break. Dr. Wilson showed off some interesting facets of his character. The faith healer was prepared to die -- using, no less, the shield of faith to refuse "man's medicine" -- to avoid revealing that he had gotten some tail. Oh, and Dr. Chase broke into another residence.
Wilson was all over this episode. He bitched House out about letting the faith healer bother his cancer patient. He bartered successfully for access into House's poker game. He artfully jousted with the faith healer. He was revealed to be SHAGGING his cancer patient.
I am surprised that Chase did not play a bigger role, given his seminary background. But I was impressed that the writers did bother to reference it; not doing so would have made no sense.
The best quote of the evening had to be Dr. Foreman's observation that Dr. Cameron should take the stick out of her ass about the article and get over it. Cameron had a pretty good reply, come to think of it. I look forward to see how this plays out when Foreman contracts his deadly illness.
I knew that House would have plenty of quips and observations when confronted with a faith healer. It was mostly predictable stuff, although I admit that I enjoyed it when he asked the faith healer if the proper term was "divine health management."
It was sweet at the end when House asked Wilson if they were "OK."
I wonder how long the other guys in the poker game stuck around at House's place before leaving. And DID they steal anything?
