IT's good to know that there is music out there that still gives me chills!

~^*I was started to get worried that I had lost touch with the magic of music. Luckily, this is not the case! The other day I FINALLY got to see O Brother, Where Art Thou? Daaaaaamn, son! That movie is undoubtedly in my top 5! Props to Dahan for lending me his copy. Not only is the movie BITCHIN' {who knew that Homer's The Iliad would ever come in handy?!}, but the soundtrack ROCKS! A kid in my Contemporary Music Issues class did his entire presentation on the phenomenon of this movie and the success of the sndtrk. Apparently, the sndtrk. has sold over 6 million copies. That number is astronomical for a folk/roots/spiritual record. But it is certainly well-deserved. It gives me chills! Oh, how I love it! And ya'll should check out the movie if only to see George Clooney's lip syncing on "Man of Constant Sorrow!" And it makes me think of ...but the Rain is Full of Ghosts! Aw yeah, can we all say, "Lonesome Valley?" ::sigh:: Good ol' Bob Lawson days!*^~

~^*A big, huge, wild birfday shoutout to Rachel. My home girl is 21 today! weeeeeeeeee! Here's to 17 years of friendship and a lifetime still ahead of us!*^~
