A warning speech to the mindless kids. From beautiesnbeasts

So the Mayor had caughten wind of the three recent dead students at Sunnydale High School and had contacted me, informing me to give a speech to the student body at large about being safe when not here. The Mayor was a great man, but with the history of this town, giving this speech was going to be delicate, and pointless. Giving a speech to these mindless kids who liked to deal drugs and exchange bodily fluids was mundane. Dare I say that giving a speech to a group full of vampires, warning them to watch out for these kids would have been the safer thing to do, and probably would have accomplished more.

I stood at the podium. These kids weren't ones that I tried to impress, so I didn't prepare a speech. I looked at the masses of them. They would have ben far better suited at this point in the day being in class, as opposed to here. I could only imagine that some of them were inhaling PCP in the audience, or putting LSD behind their eyes. They could do that in this unwell lit room, whereas they couldn't do it in class. But, the Mayor had prompted me to do this, so I would do it.

"Ladies, Gentleman, and others amongst us, I just have a brief speech to make. As some of you may or may know, in the last three days, we have lost three students to tragedies. Tragedies seem to be a common occurrence in this town, and those who run the city want everyone to be aware of the risks. Well, the risks are the same as they have always been. The rate of drug use and horseplay in this school and in this town, increase every year and the death's have increased as a result. The deaths of Jeff Walken, Willow Rosenberg and the presumed death of Cordelia Chase can be directly attributed to things that you as youthes shouldn't be involved in. It is important that you come to school, obey your elders, and stay away from anything that strikes you as unreputable in the future. Those gone haven't done that. The faculty here will be watching you in the halls, and it is up to you to take care of yourselves when not here. On a related note, Cordelia Chase was likely to be the front runner for tonight's homecoming dance and her name is now off of the ballet. Do not, at the dance, vote for her and make a mockery of the proceedings. I will be there as well, and again, will be watching you."

I stopped, stepped away from the podium, looked all of the vultures in the eyes and then avoided the noise and ignored the chatter from the masses as I walked away. "This assembly is now over. Please report directly to your classes, or you will face a rather stiff detention spell," I said, looking at them from the corner of the stage, before disappearing to the back and into the hallway, away from the vultures.
