Halloween Weekend

This weekend wiped me out; between getting up at 6am for work, going to interviews, and the Halloween party, I was a babbling wreck by Sunday night! I was still pretty coherent for the party on Saturday, and going as Oracle meant I got to sit down the whole time ^^ It's too bad no one had the slightest idea who/what I was supposed to be, even in the context of everyone else's Batman-themed costumes. As a result, most of the other people thought I was honestly handicapped.

That was weird. When Lucas introduced me to people, their eyes just slid away from mine, like they weren't sure where they were supposed to look. Some people didn't even respond at all. And there was a definite sense of people being tense or awkward if I was sitting nearby, although that might be because no one was certain if I was actually crippled or just had the poor taste to make that my costume. There was a lot of whispered debate as to whether or not it was okay to joke about the wheelchair (and some pretty awesome, relieved jokes once they found out the truth).

Only one dude had the balls to ask me to my face, and when I told him I could walk, he responded with: "Okay, I'll get back to you later, then." I'm told he hit on Amy and Katie later, so that's...pretty gross and awful, actually. HANDICAPPED PEOPLE LIKE SEX TOO!

But if I said I didn't enjoy standing up and freaking people out, I'd be lyyyyying. Katie and I switched places at the end of the night, and the double-takes were absolutely fantastic.

So here are the pics from Christy's camera that Katie didn't post, as well as some costume-prep shots from mine.

I have the wheelchair for another week...what to do, what to do?
