Ladies and Gentlemen (or rude, drunk people):

Leaving broken glass on the floor of your storage unit when you vacate is not cool. Not. At. All. Especially when, we are checking your unit for damages/cleaning/necessary repairs, my co-worker misses the glass.

In fact, I'm pretty damn sure it went something like this*:

Co-worker: *kicks piece of duct tape out of the unit*
Me: Charge them.
Co-worker: Why? For a piece of tape?
Me: *pointing at glass* For that.
Co-worker: Oh! I totally didn't see that.

*Dialogue may be paraphrased.

Not only do we have to clean your unit, we also have to sweep it out, in case any broken pieces are too small to pick up.

What the hell is so hard about coming to the office and saying, "Oops, we broke a piece of glass. Do you have a broom or a bag or something we can get it up with?" We can provide you with a broom, dustpan, or garbage bag for your cleaning needs. We will also dispose of the glass for you. We're really not that mean.

Enjoy your cleaning charge, ex-tenant.

Especially since, initially you would have received a check in the mail because you over-paid last time. That credit is now gone. You now owe us.

That is all.
