My email to Jon Zellner of the new Sirius XM
Dear Mr. Zellner,
I, as well as a lot of other people are very upset with how many of the dance genres were taken away.
We were told that the channel merge last Wednesday was done in order to remove "redundant channels". Instead however, entire genres of music were taken away, and in some cases, I'm seeing more redundancies than ever before!
In the "Dance" family on XM, we used to have:
The Move
BPM
The System
Chrome
and XM Chill
The Move played house music,
BPM played dance hits,
The System played trance, and breaks as well as other similar electronica,
Chrome played 70s and 80s disco,
and XM Chill played slow ambient electronica.
These are all completely different genres of music.
With the new lineup, you have taken away many of these.
Now we have BPM playing dance,
Area also playing mostly dance (a lot of us on xmfan.com are in agreement that this channel might as well be renamed to BPM2),
and... that's it.
Sirius XM Chill isn't as bad as it was last week, but I find that it is still playing tracks that don't belong on a "chill" channel. In fact, this is now more of a "chill out" channel, then a "chill" channel - again, two completely different things.
Not only that, but several times now, every time I have gotten into my car at different times of the day, I've turned on Area only to find it playing the exact same song that it was playing when I turned it on just a couple of hours ago.
The channel lineup says that Area is equivalent to what The System was. I'm finding this to be nothing further from the truth.

The channel I personally used to listen to the most on XM, was The System. Unrelated to the dance category, I also used to listen to The Rhyme now and then. Both of these channels were pulled, and a week later I still haven't found alternatives to these channels on the new lineup.
Please reconsider this decision, as I, as well as many others, strongly feel that this new lineup defeats the original idea behind XM Satellite Radio. That is, to be completely different and offer everything that traditional broadcast radio doesn't offer.
