Reply to this meme by yelling "Words!" and I will give you five words that remind me of you. Then post them in your LJ and explain what they mean to you. My words given to my by
damanique.
1. Hair
This is a bit complicated. First of all, Hair the musical: this is one of my faves, especially the music really got to me, and it's still a favourite. Normally I'm not such a fan of musicals but this is different.
Second, my long hair: I simply couldn't imagine myself any other way. There is no rational reason for it, but I couldn't bear to be without it.
Third, hair in general: I'm usually a fan of long hair, both on men and women. Sometimes, a woman with a particularly nice short hairstyle can really get my attention too, but that only goes for women.
2. Carpentry
I just like to create stuff. It's a great feeling to have created something yourself, and when building furniture it's usually something big and visible. Also, the engineering challenges and spatial thinking challenges are something that I enjoy. The largest problem I have is that finishing (sanding, polishing, painting, etcetera) takes so much tedious work that I sometimes get bored and tired of it.
3. LARP
Before LARP, I was rather a secluded person. I had a small circle of friends, mostly of the geek persuasion, but never really felt at home. For some reason, LARPers are different. My very first larp-experience, I suddenly had lots of contact (physical, too). I guess you could say that it embraced me in more ways than one. Logical, perhaps, because in LARP you get the freedom to 'try out' dfiferent ways of dealing with social situations without being afraid that it will reflect on your person (because it is your character who is doing the interaction).
4. Music
I've always enjoyed listening to music, but until a few years ago, I've never dared to actually try and learn an instrument. Everybody tells you it takes years to be able to play something decently, and I didn't really want to take lessons or anything either. Then one day, on a larp-event, I was handed a djembe, and it turned out I could play it almost instantly. Nothing to it.
After that, I decided to go to the instrument store to see what cheap-ass stuff they had, and I wound up with a piccolo flute, which I could get simple melodies out of in under a week. Without lessons or anything. And then, on another larp-event I met a guy who taught me a nice tune (Inisheer) and after that, I really got into it. As it turns out, I have a knack for picking up an instrument quickly, although I'm not good at putting in the hours of practise needed to become really really good at it. Out of cheapness, I also decided to try making some flutes and whistles myself, which is basically the building stuff thing again.
Basically, I'm now reasonably good at about half a dozen instruments, and have a bit of adhd-attitude to it.
5. Muppets
Muppets ??? WTF did you choose that word for ?
Well, it's a great show of course. And so is Fraggle Rock. The Muppet Show is the kind of thing that you don't see on TV nowadays anymore. Also, it's kind of a fantasy setting, where you have to use a bit of imagination to see past the obvious puppet-with-hands-in look, which is something I quite enjoy. Same reason I liked the original Dr. Who and Blakes 7 series. Perhaps it's because it's an adult show, but with a lot of childlike innocence to it.
