There is something about living nextdoor to an elderly assisted living home that puts everything into some form of perspective. To see, as I leave for work, members wandering through the minimal gardens, families picking up parents and grandparents for weekend outings, and even the weekly ambulance or two. I wonder if the people I see are happy, are fully competent mentally or physically, what they think about their age and their lives, and I just hope that I can live in a positive and suportive environment when I am that age, and I wonder what I will think about my life then.

Biking to work, as I come upon Market Street, I tend to fall into a small herd of bikes. We naturally fall into an order illustrating our skill. On my first day, I was at the back, but had a few behind me by the 3rd day. I now tend to ride toward the end of the pack, but its great to feel this connection, that together we can overpower the cars around us, force them to wait for us (San Fran has TONS of bike lanes where cars still continue to drive, but know they need to yield), and zoom between them at lights. Im riding closer to cars then I have before, but feel safe doing it. The bike ride home, however, is tiring and lonely. SO it sucks; Im never sure whether to leave my bike at the station, to avoid the long ride home, or just suck it up so I can have the enjoyable morning ride. Well now that I have found my bike with its wheels loosened at the BART station, I wont leave it overnight again, atleast not till I get a cable so I can lock up every little piece of the bike. Ergh!

Anyway, Im enjoying a quiet evening at home. Folks are out partying right now, and I was going to go, but I really wanted an evening to myself, without anyone at home. i got some KFC on sale, as they were just closing, and am plopped in front of the TV, updating and reading online - as I have no internet at work and leave my computer there now, since its a pain in the ass to bike with it. Anyway, back to the boob tube and my daily comics!
