The baby was still in NICU and likely would be for a few more weeks. Piper was going to be there everyday until he was allowed to go home.

He was still nameless at the moment. She was going to have to do something about that soon.

Mary had quite a bit of free time on her hands lately, and once she got started crocheting, it was hard to stop. So she stopped by the clinic to drop off a few baby items.

"As far as I can tell, no one's thrown you a baby shower yet, so I hope these tide you over," she said with a gentle smile.

Piper managed a small, grateful smile. "Oh, you didn't have to do that. But I appreciate it anyway. These are adorable."

"Aren't they? I went looking for a pattern to make a simple baby hat and found tons of cute stuff to make," said Mary, smiling. "Besides, every preemie needs a cute little hat to keep his sweet little head warm."

"Definitely," Piper said, imagining the cute hats on his head. "I'm sure he will love them. Thanks, Mary."

"You're welcome," said Mary, smiling. "Let me know if you need anything else, even if you just need someone to bring you food so you can stay here, keeping an eye on him."

"I will let you know," Piper said, nodding. "It's probably a good idea for someone to remind me to eat sometimes."
