Curse of the Bambino
A little background for those who don't know. But the curse of the bambino, aka Babe Ruth, was started in Sudbury, MA, the town which I cover for the newspaper. To make a long story short, people believe his piano is buried in a pond in Sudbury becuase he lived in the town while playing for the red sox and finding it will reverse the curse. They've been searching the pond for 3-4 years and I've been covering it each time.
Anyway, anytime there's something about the curse, it involves Sudbury and I get stuck writing something. Well, Tuesday night a 16-year-old boy got hit with a foul ball at the red sox game. It knocked his two front teeth out. Well, this kid is from Sudbury and guess where he lives? If you guessed Babe Ruth's old home, you're correct. lol So, there's all this talk about how this could reverse the curse, etc. etc. Ironically, the same night all this happened was the night the Yankees lost 22-0...
So, I have to write something about this and I just talked to the kid. It's an amusing story (minus the fact the kids lost 2 teeth), but it's just amazing what connections people will make about this curse. Someone shoot me now, ok? lol
