Well, the past few days have been pretty eventful. Saturday was Liz's "birthday" (her real birhtday is Dec 25th, but she celebrates it on June 21st) and I made my Super Yummy Super Vegan Chocolate Cake (that was aptly renamed Death By Choclate by Liz and Wendy) . It was quite a beautiful cake, if I do say so myself (it was really just the strawberies on top that made it so pretty) but it was unfortunately far too dense. Perhaps because I subsititued baking powder for baking soda (which is completely ABSENT here) or because of the altitude difference (I did not bake it at a higher temperture...) I also made chocolate sprinkle (remember, no chocolate chips here) banana bread, which turned out better than the one I had baked the day before (the first time I used self-rising flour--strange things they use here to bake with!)
The day before (Friday) we rode our bikes to this town that had sand sculptures. I was impressed with the sculptures (I mean, they're entirely made out of sand!), and took some pictures. I have pictures of the cake too, but I have not yet uploaded anything.
Yesterday we went on a 25 kilometer bike ride. It's really a lot nicer biking here than in Seattle. For one thing, there aren't really any hills (at least they're nothing in comparison to the ones in Seattle) and the countryside is so pretty. It's so nice riding along canals or meadows or farms (though that can get pretty smelly).
Yesterday I also got to talk to one of my friends on the phone. That really made my week. And of course I also got to talk to my mom, which was also great.
Today I've been typing transcripts. Not really too interesting, but hey, money is money (oh what an awful thing to say). I've been taking far too many breaks and thus spending much more time on it than I should.
