It was very interesting reading the results to the poll 'Bias, is it a deciding factor in our judment of characters?' A lot of you have raised some interesting thoughts about Sam and Dean and the issue of forgiveness. Some of you were confused about Sam needing redemption. It's true that Sam has redeemed himself for releasing Lucifer by sacrificing ( Read more... )

Oh, but Dean has been forgiven for the things he's done to Sam. I could list a lot things that Dean has done to Sam that has either hurt his little brother or has given his little brother the impression that he wasn't good enough or he wasn't being a good son ( ... )

It's great to see that so many would allow Sam a second chance at redemption. Unfortunately it's just another thing Sam deserves that he'll probably never get.
Sam with his broken psyche is, once again, the weak one- who needs a strong hand. Despite any progress that may have been made in Season 5 towards Dean treating Sam like an equal- we see from Unforgiven onward that Dean is once again the boss of the relationship, by necessity, and getting redemption for the things Soulless did is not on the list. In fact, it's been forbidden.
Sam will just have to move on, holding that guilt inside, and one wonders if it will ever even be discussed again.

It's Dean's calling, his destiny to be the big brother and care taker of his little brother. He enjoys doing it to the point where he got pissed at Sam for suggesting differently. Sam is going to fight Dean because once again he is not given a choice in his life, he is not allowed to make those decisions on his own because he is not capable of doing so. So, Sam is going to fight Dean on it and Dean is going to continue to be that caretaker he's always been for Sam. However, I would like to see Dean try and work with Sam as an equal, to give Sam some of that control back. Perhaps, slowly ease him into it and see how Sam copes. That will be interesting to see, as oppose to just telling doing it all for him.

Dean got all of Sam back in Scarecrow by setting him free to make his own choices. Sam has a right to choose what to do with his life. This is a tv show, so whatever is going on with Sam in season 7 will work out in some tv show fashion. Because this is not real life. It is tv life, but not our life here.

The real truth about Sam and Dean is that when it comes down to it, all that they have is each other. They both hurt each other, and they both live with each other, flaws and all. Dean has hurt Sam, by word and deed, just as Sam has hurt Dean. Tough cookies. It's over now. Time to move on and deal with new things in their lives.
