catwalksalonealready made Dan a woman. I just went from there.  (And, how the heck do you format in LJ?!)

When Dan was a man, he would hear: ‘Nice job,’ and think: ‘Thanks.’
Now that he is a woman, he thinks: ‘Oh, do you think so? I probably could have done better. Sally would have done better. I should have done ‘X’ or ‘Y’ or even ‘Z’. I should have tried harder. My father always said that I never could finish what I started.’

When Dan was a man, he would hear: ‘Nice jeans,’ and think: ‘Thanks. I pulled them out of the dirty clothes hamper and they didn’t smell too bad so I put them on.’
Now that he is a woman, he thinks: ‘Do you think they’re too tight? Do they make my butt look big? I should have gotten the relaxed fit, shouldn’t I? My father always said that I should stay away from slim fit because of my thighs. That’s it. I’m going home to change.’

When Dan was a man, he would hear: ‘I’m going to give Casey the soccer coverage in the thirties,’ and think: ‘I’ll name my first-born child after you. Wait, what if I don’t have children? How about I give you this Mallomar instead?’
Now that he is a woman, he thinks: ‘Why? Don’t you think I can handle it? Are you still upset about that Tom Glavine story I did? I told you that I wasn’t on my ‘A’ game that day. Have you been talking to my Dad? You’re never going to trust me again, are you?’

When Dan was a man, he would hear: ‘I’ll call you,’ and think: ‘Yes! I rule! I am utterly charming and undeniably handsome.’
Now that he is a woman, he thinks: “Yeah, but will you really? Did you really like me? Was I pretty enough? Funny enough? Did I have spinach stuck in my teeth? My father always said he wouldn’t be surprised if nobody called to take me to the Prom.’

When Dan was a man, he would hear: “I love you,” and think: ‘Casey.’
Now that he is a woman, he thinks: ‘Casey.’

Some things never change.
