The Beginning
So this is actually a nice followup to the movie. You think Mulder and Scully are going to go back to the X-Files...but no, just kidding. And Gibson Praise shows up again...damn that kid is annoying. And Spender and Diana Fowley...blah. But I liked how CC changed it up, though. Kudos.
Drive
The idea of this episode is okay, but they didn't sell it enough. Not enough science. Like, why do they have to go west? How does moving help? Moving actually requires more work by your inner ear to balance yourself. Hmm....
Triangle
Chris Carter, you are sooo shippy. You've denied it for over five years, but you're breaking down. So, the premise of this episode is Mulder goes back in time in the Bermuda Triangle. He's on a ship, and everyone is there as different characters, like the Wizard of Oz. So he tells ship!Scully that she has to turn the ship around to save the world. And ship!Scully's like, WTF? Then Mulder says, "In case we never meet," and passionately kisses her. Of course it's really dark and it's hard to see anything, but still! In the commentary track, CC says, "the moment a lot of people had been waiting for." Oh boy and then at the end? "Scully?" "Yes Mulder?" "I love you." "Oh, brother."
Dreamland
These two episodes are sooo good. It's so funny to see Mulder thrust in a family situation and how inept at it he is. And Morris Fletcher enjoying the whole thing. The funniest part of this episode is where Mulder is talking to Scully and Mrs Fletcher is throwing his stuff out. Oh and when he says, "Lately for lunch you've been having... like this little six ounce cup of yogurt... plain yogurt... into which you stir some bee pollen because you're on some kind of bee pollen kick even though I tell you you're a scientist and should know better..." it's like the cutest thing ever. Hahahahaha.
Dreamland II
OMG! I love how Morris Fletcher decides he's going to clean Mulder's act up. THE BED! THE MIRRORS! THE HANDCUFFS! "'Baby' me and you'll be peeing through a catheter." "I'd kiss you if you weren't so damn ugly." And Mulder checking his apartment door at the end! So good!
How the Ghosts Stole Christmas
This episode is fun. And fairly shippy. I told you CC is coming over to the dark side. And they give each other presents! Awww...
Terms of Endearment
Why is an episode about devil babies called terms of endearment? Why was I watching an episode about devil babies? Blah.
Rain King
WHERE DO I BEGIN??? Some quotes...
Holman Hardt: "I've been envious of men like you my whole life. Based on your physical bearing, I'd assumed you were... more experienced. I mean... you spend every day with Agent Scully, a beautiful, enchanting woman. And you two never, uh...? I... confess I find that shocking. I... I've seen how you two gaze at one another."
Mulder: "This is about you, Holman. I'm here to help you. I'm perfectly happy with my friendship with Agent Scully."
Holman Hardt: "So according to your theory I walk in there, tell her I love her and the drought will end?"
Mulder: "Just tell her how you feel. And Holman... I do not gaze at Scully."
Scully: "Well, it seems to me that the best relationships - the ones that last - are frequently the ones that are rooted in friendship. You know, one day you look at the person and you see something more than you did the night before. Like a switch has been flicked somewhere. And the person who was just a friend is... suddenly the only person you can ever imagine yourself with."
SCULLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
However, even with the shippy stuff, the very very best part of this episode is where Mulder and Scully get to the reunion, which is held in the gym of course, all gaudily decorated complete with mirror ball, and bad music is playing and the two of them actually SWAY back and forth to the music, together. I had to rewind and watch this several times over because I could not believe it. MAJOR kudos to whoever had that idea. What a hilarious and wonderful touch.
SR819
Okay so I only sort of remembered this episode, so the whole time when the long-haired guy is walking around with his PDA, I keep saying, "Krycek! PLEASE be Krycek!" And when I found out it was I squealed and was all giddy.
Tithonus
Uh, yeah, didn't we already do this with Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose?
Two Fathers
All the huggy stuff with Cassandra was pretty silly, but information about CSM is always fun. And funny:
Mulder: "Hey, Homegirl, word up."
Scully: "Mulder, it's my distinct impression that you just cheated. And that you're not coming in again today."
Mulder: "Oh, Scully, I got game."
Scully: "Yeah, you got so much game I'm wondering if you have any work left in you."
Mulder: "No, I'm ready to JOB just not on some jagoff shoeshine tip."
Scully: "No 'jagoff shoeshine tip'?"
Mulder: "No background checking jagoff shoeshine tip."
Scully: "Well, about your JOB, Mulder, somebody's been trying very hard to reach you by phone. Somebody who wants you back at the FBI ASAP."
Mulder: "About what?"
Scully: "About an X-File."
One Son
CC all but laid to rest rumors of CSM being Mulder's dad with these episodes. But this episode DOES have naked!Scully and naked!Mulder. And the Diana Fowley kiss? Bah. She MUST be Mulder's ex-wife. I wanted to kick his ass for implying Scully's disklike of Diana was personal. Of course it is, but he's still an insensitive bastard.
Next time: ARCADIA! YES!!!
