Well, immediately there's the fact that I've just smacked my elbow on the door and got a massive bruise! The door lunged for me, honest!
Other then that tasty titbit of excitement (HA), not a lot. An awful lot of work, which is totally doing my head in right now. Between the customers who are battering the hell out of my morale and a boss that doesn't know the industry or me or my team or has a clue as to deal with me - I'm a little fraught. I actually dislike my job at present, which is unusual. Usually it's the place I want to be.
I work for an ethical company. We're the only 100% renewable electricity supplier in the country. There are huge kudos tied in with that. But my immediate boss doesn't have a clue. He was brought in as a project manager to oversee the transition of two companies and the move. So he has no 'environmental' background at all. And yet he sees fit to preach to me about climate change. And make me feel bad because I don't spend my spare time - time I'm not paid for, time that I spend with my family - watching documentaries on the environment. Honestly, I'm all for expanding my knowledge (which is expansive anyway, I might add, they've been my client for 5 years after all) but the second I'm forced to do it; the minute it becomes an order - well, that's just when I dig my heels in. As I have. And then I'm made to feel bad about that. Fucking arsehole. And this is the man that doesn't seem interested in the actual mechanics of the electricity industry!
Let me give an example - I can't remember the last time I was asked how much a customer could save by having solar panels installed. And I would struggle to answer that question in it's complexities. But I'm asked frequently to explain to a customer how we calculate a monthly installment. In which case I will tell them that it's based on an EAC which is based on the history of their meter. I could go on to tell them that anything could influence this but it takes months for it regulate. Perhaps their D86 is too low and we need D10s to ascertain the consumption? Perhaps I need to initiate a dispute? The DC is the middle man that will verify this for me.
Now, you didn't understand a word I just said then, did you? :) Course you didn't. Because I would never say that to a customer. My boss doesn't understand that either. It's just industry jargon. So, if he doesn't get it - how on earth is he qualified to tell me my job?
Bastard.
