Stayed home for a bit and watched some hockey, figure skating, snowboard and curling.
Not sure if I mentioned this but I managed to get tickets to Men's long program, Ladies short and long program and the Gala.
Let's start with snowboarding. CONGRATS AND THANKS TO MAELLE RICKER (what a nice and unique name Maelle) FOR WINNING GOLD MEDAL ON SNOWBOARD CROSS!! Our first female gold medalist!!! Another Happy day for us to celebrate!!! WOOHOOOOOOOOO!!! Didn't watch the whole event just watched the final round when Ricker race to the finish for the gold. She was super fast and way ahead of the other 3 snowboarders!! A great race nonetheless.
Curling. I was watching the Canada vs. Norway one. I still don't understand this sport!! All I know is that the thing they are throwing is called stones and that they are suppose to slide those rocks into the bull's eye on the ice. And the opponent would try to hit the stones out of the way. It's something like that. The highlight of the event is not really the game itself but what the Norwegian are wearing. They were wearing this checkered pants. hmmm...can't seem to find any pics of them wearing those pants. oh well...
Hockey. Canada vs. Norway. Canada won the game. I would be surprise if they didn't win. The score was 8-0. Looks like the Canada team are in a good shape. Let's hope they will keep this going and not lose a single game! It would be totally embarrassing if they don't make it to the medal round.
Lastly figure skating. The most important event!!! It's the Men's short program today. Everyone did pretty well especially the Japanese men (Takahashi, Oda and Kozuka). I think Takahashi has the performance of the night. Lysacek of USA also has the performance of his night. Both guys did really well. They both deserved that 2nd and 3rd place. Patrick Chan wasn't on his best game tonight. He ended up in 7th place. Lambiel of Swizterland and Denis Ten of Kazakhstan are also my fave and they both did really well.
I can't wait for Thursday and watch the Men's long program live in person!!! I'll be taking pics and stuff!! So I'll try to post it here when I have time!!
ok I thought I should make some predictions. I think I'll go with Figure skating first..
Let's start with Men's Long since I'm going to watch it live on Thursday.
Gold - Pluschenko (Russia)
Silver - Lysacek (USA)
Bronze -Takahashi (Japan)
I think Plushenko has a really high chance of winning gold mainly due to the fact that he has all the jumps including quad jumps. Not really a fan of his skating style but I do love his jumping technique. It is so smooth and catlike! I also love his fearlessness about him and the fact that when he steps on the ice you know he's going to do his job and get it done consistently and perfectly. I have never once remember him miisng his jumps.
Lysacek might win silver because after watching him skate tonight. I can see it in his eyes that he really wants to win a medal. He looks very determined.
As for the bronze it could be any skater who will have the cleanest skate of the night. Patrick might be able to get. but I would like Takahashi to get it.
In the Dance event, I like to see Virtue and Moir getting a medal. Belbin and Asgoto has that potential of getting a medal too.
As for the ladies, I don't think I want to make any predictions. I like to see Yu Na Kim, Joannie Rochette, and Mao Asada be on the podium. As to who wins what medal, I don't really care as long as those 3 is up on the podium!
Hockey.
I thought I should make a hockety predictions since it's the most anticipated event of this Olympics. Honestly, I have a feeling that both the Men and Women team Canada will not get the gold. The pressure is just way too much. Canada is expecting the gold and nothing less. I think they'll just choke at the end. I'm thinking for the gold medal game, it'll be USA vs Russia for the Men's side playing for the gold. For the Women's team, I have a feeling the gold medal game will be Canada vs. USA with Americans winning the gold.
Watched the victory ceremony of Alexandre Bilodeau receiving his gold medal and I loved every minute of it. It was a very proud Canadian moment when the flag was raised and everyone singing the national anthem proudly!!! I cried tears of happiness!!
It's late and I need to get some sleep. I have to get my place ready tomorrow because I invited a friend from Japan to stay at my place during Olympics. We are going to the figure skating events together!!
