Inspiring Songs (well, to me, anyway)

Jan 27, 2009 22:49

In a rare fit of wanting to share things that are important to me (and risk people thinking they're stupid), I decided to share the songs that I find particularly encouraging.  There are other songs that also inspire me, but these are the ones that don't need some context to make sense.  I'm linking to the lyrics and YouTube, if I can find them on YouTube.  Most of the songs are country or folk, but a few are rock.

(Oddly, considering that I'm not religious, some of the songs have religious bits or overtones.  Somehow that doesn't matter to me.)

Against the Grain - Garth Brooks (1)  lyrics  YouTube
Anyway - Martina McBride  lyrics  YouTube
Eagles and Horses - John Denver  lyrics  YouTube
Eye of the Tiger - Survivor  lyrics  YouTube
Freewill - Rush  lyrics  YouTube  (And this one's decidedly not religious.  Heh.)
Garden Party - Ricky Nelson  lyrics  YouTube
Have a Nice Day - Bon Jovi  lyrics  YouTube
I Feel Fine Today - Kevin Welch  lyrics  YouTube
I Take My Chances - Mary Chapin Carpenter  lyrics  YouTube
I Wouldn't Have it Any Other Way - Aaron Tippin  lyrics  YouTube
If You're Going Through Hell - Rodney Atkins  lyrics   YouTube
Life's a Dance - John Michael Montgomery  lyrics
Man With Blue Dolphin - Stan Rogers  lyrics
The Mary Ellen Carter - Stan Rogers  lyrics  YouTube
Rocky Mountain High - John Denver  lyrics  YouTube  (the Wildlife Concert version is my favorite, but I couldn't find a YouTube of it)
The River - Garth Brooks  lyrics  YouTube
To the Wild Country - John Denver  lyrics  YouTube
State of Grace - Reba McEntire  lyrics

(1) written by Bruce Boulton, Larry Cordle, and Carl Jackson
Some of the other songs may have co-writers.

If anybody has any inspiring songs they want to share, please do.  I like inspiring songs. :)
