I ^%$##$%ing hate commercials.

The fact that most commercials suffer from burning stupidity is bad enough, but I'm beginning to feel down right homicidal when certain ads come on.  I need to get my DVD player so I watch fewer rage enducing commercials.  In the meantime, however... *&$%#$#$%&^%$#^%*!!!!

More coherently, I am so fucking pissed off at two particular groups of ads: weight loss ads and improve your social status/avoid being an untouchable ads.  If I could stop swearing and wanting to threaten serious bodily harm, I'd start writing letters to companies telling them that their pro-eating disorder ads have turned me off to their products, weightloss or otherwise and that if they ever want me as a customer again, they can fucking stop promoting disordered eating.

The spit on the poor ads are something I noticed more recently.  You see it in ads for colleges/tech schools and you see it in those stupid beyond words Free Credit Report song ads.  The college one that stands out involves a young woman walking around the kitchen of a restaurant talking about how she used to work there before she got worth thanks to an associates degree.  The Free Credit Report sea food restaurant ad is the same thing, only worse.  If you don't watch your credit you might end up, oh horrors, working in a restaurant!  If you truly believe that restaurant work is valueless, then you really shouldn't patronize restaurants.  If, on the other hand, you think that restaurants are worth patronizing, then you'd damn well better acknowledge that the people who work in them are providing a useful service.  *swear curse rant*

I think it's very important that people interact with other people as if those people are, you know, people.  All of whom have worth.  And I think it's important to sell products without adding to the suffering in the world.  ...  Perhaps I should go patronize one of the restaurants whose ads say "Yummy food here!" now.  I might be in a better mood after dinner.  It's been a long day.  A long annoying day.  And turning on the TV to relax didn't help. -_-
