My in-town relatives are going to drive me insane. I don't need people driving through my apartment parking lot to see if my car is there (which doesn't, by the way, mean I'm there), I don't need people calling me repeatedly to "make sure I'm okay," and I don't need people contemplating getting the apartment manager to open my door if I don't answer it. I have the right to not answer my door. I have the right to not return phone calls. I have the right to not have a sense of dread every time the phone rings or someone knocks on my door unexpectedly.
It doesn't help that I (stupidly) had my grandparents take me to the ER this spring when I was sick and got dehydrated (I couldn't stop throwing up and was too out of it to drive myself - or, unfortunately, to think to call a cab -_-). They offered to help with the bill (being uninsured sucks), and then freaked out when they discovered it was $3,000. Being staunch Republicans, they'd never gotten the memo about health costs being frikin expensive. Now they won't get off my case that it must be a mistake. It's not. Health care realy is that fucking expensive. So I'm on a payment plan with the hospital (not being quite low enough income for anything else) and my grandmother keeps calling me wanting a copy of the bill so she can go talk to the hospital about "their mistake." Mind you, I haven't taken any money from my grandparents for this. It's none of their business. They can rescind their offer to help me with it. They really, really can. Especially if it will make them leave me alone.
In short, to my grandparents and certain other crazy family members: stop calling, stop showing up uninvited, just...LEAVE ME ALONE!!! FUCK!!!
In happier news, when I went down to the bagle place for my daily bread...er...bagles, I saw a happy business man with an ice cream cone, which totally made my day. There's this guy, his suit jacket over one arm, his shirt sleeves rolled up, strolling along, enjoying this huge chocolate ice cream cone. :D
rants,
family
