BELGIUM

so i left off last when i just got to ghent. so ghent was very pretty gothic and dark.. there was this wonderful castle and instead of an audio guide there was a movie that you watched as you went from room to room and each scene took place in the current room you were in. I also went up to the belfy - clock tower. the guy who worked the bells secretly allowed me and a few others to the top where all the bells were. then i walked a bit and headed back to antwerp. A bunch of us went out drinking that night at a local bar that had live jazz bands playing. µ

yesterday I went to Brugge, similiar to ghent however much more touristy. I had fries with garlic mayo - really good and much better than the one i had in amsterdam with plain mayo. I went to the chocolate museum - was pretty cool, lace museum - eh, and a church where they replicated the main church in jersulem and had a replica of Jesus´ decomposing body - scary. my camera battery died when I got to brugge so I have praciticly know photos of the city. I also went to the beigjenhof [sp?) where single women live who dont want to take the oath of povertyand therefore cant be nuns, but still want to live a holy lifestyle. I also went to the surrounding park - nice and serene. got back to antwerp and went bar hopping with a couple of guys. one bar had statues of saints all over the place from floor to ceiling - really weird.

today I`m delving a little deeper in to antwerp itself. so far I went to the photography museum and some how now I ended up in the arab section. I am going to head over to the jewish section aka dia,ond district soon and then who knows what i`ll find next. im going to take it slow today. tomorrow i'm off to brussels and the next two days after i'll be in luxembourg.

its been rainy since i got to belgium, and i've come up with a slight cold.
