I have a few hours left in Croatia, so i´m partially spending it online and then spending it wandering the streets and maybe a few more art galleries/museums.. raining here now but more like a drizzle.
so yesterday there was a slight change of plans. when i went to meet this girl from split for dinner, she wasnćt there.. but this guy that we had both met in split was there. so the two of us waited for 15 minutes, and she finally came. she then tells us there were a change of plans and that her and the peeps at her hostel we going to check out some local bands with the hostel owner.. the hostel is in his families apt.. and hes about our age... low 30s (scary that 30s is now our age range!). so we go to the hostel.. and there are like 10 people there..all of which were in split within the past week or so. 3 of which i had met in split.. and the others were at split earlier that week, so everyone knew someone else at the hostel who was at the same hostel in split a week to a few days earlier. we all went out to check out the bands.. then went to old town to grab food to eat at a bosnian restuarant - the hostel owner shared his story of the war. he talked about how it started when he was starting high school, and they were bombing there house so they saught refuge in hotel.. and so the serbians bombed these new refugee homes of theirs. now the serbians are buying these hotels and making money off of it. he also mentioned how till this day the serbians are apologizing for what was done.
we then just wandered old city for a while longer.. then i headed back to my hostel to sleep.
This morning i dropped my bags off at the bus station, picked up my ticket to Mostar, bosnia and headed to old town. Checked out the jewish museum\synagouge which was a cute little shul with mediterenean blue ceilings and white jewish stars and copper lamps. upstairs in the womens section, the ceiling was so low that you could hardly stand.
time to walk around some more.. and then to Mostar!
