A deck of Broken Hearts

It’s been a while since I have really taken the time to write. Nothing really interesting has been going on in my life, and I’ve been doing things to keep busy so that my brain can go and do some silent processing.

Went to the Elf’s birthday on Saturday, piking on Wally’s birthday (which I had warned him about) and Tim’s Mayfarners gig which I had planned to go to but had forgotten about Elfs. Shelley was supposed to go the gig, but got her dates mixed up, and Tempe was quite a way off, and I really couldn’t be bothered trekking all that way.

Went to the Swans again today and they got up, three for three now, I am a lucky charm. Spent the rest of the afternoon with Alf and his bitterly cynical mate Blais. Talked about solving the world’s problems, our own, sport and the usual shit that crops up when you have Alf around. He certainly inspires conversation. Alf brought up Girl Inc, and her mistreatment of me, and that she’s turning out to be a user of people, and Blais thought she’d be a challenge and would like to mess her up a bit, and sounded a little cruel. I found myself wanting to be hurt for her (even though I suspect Alf was right about the user part), and not wanting to let Blais anywhere near her.

Alf’s having problems with his girl, he doesn’t love her like she loves him.

Shrek is on the verge of walking out the door on M, and she’s started involving the kid in the war. Shrek came home the other day to find her in tears on the couch in front of the kid and demanding to know why he was abandoning them.

Kiska is feeling restless and dissatisfied with her life. Perhaps she is finally realising that she’s been slumming it with Marc all this time.

Kristen is back and feeling a little sad that her travelling has come to an end for the moment.

Fearlessflight is heartbroken and very lost and lonely now. Four months on, she tells me, and she’s still thinking about the American boy. She kissed me the other night. I think I love fearlessflight. I certainly like being close to her, and I’ve been attracted to her from the very first time I saw her, we all know that. There’s something there. I don’t know exactly what though. But sitting next to her on the couch in Metro’s Nova Room, with her leaning into me, head inclined, feeling safe and looking small and vulnerable, it felt right. I felt at that point that I could easily love her would she let me. No, that’s not right, I felt…, it felt right. And there’s no more discussion. It felt right, and I had one of those moments, where I saw myself from out of my body and we looked right together. It was one of those moments I’d like to catch in a glass. File away for dark times, something to keep me from the darkness, and from sinking into it when I feel it’s pull.

Reading a book called “Them: Adventures with Extremists”. An english guy decided to go investigate the world’s conspiracies and the people who pursue them. It’s equally funny and alarming. Hard to know what to believe. I bought it from Collins bookstore in Broadway with Kiska, before seeing ‘Signs’. Served by a cute blonde called Emma. I’ve been thinking about going in and asking her out. Probably get shot down, but I’ll never never know… If she’s there next time and I get half a chance I guess I will. It’s only going to get easier to more times I get shot down.

Cricket matters.

Silk has signed up for the season. The boy can bat and he’s dead keen to get into it. The team AGM went well enough and we’re going ahead with the three teams. I hope I can get that to work out.

Webko went to the stupid association meeting, and they all wondered where I’d got to and all asked about me. Then they gave his the association Treasurer job. Amazing idiots. I can’t believe it and it still makes me laugh.

Nazgul narrowly lost to the Summer Hill team in the Plate tournament on the weekend. Silk batted well for 30. Trent got 41, Johnno got some runs and webko too. Aaron took three wickets, including possibly the best catch I’ve seen on the park from Silk. Running from widish mid-off to his right (not his good side), a full length dive and skidding to a halt on his head, and from the crumpled body only his arm sticking straight up, holding the ball aloft. Aaron also took a blinder in a similar fashion from the reverse angle (mid-on, running left - same result). I took a slips catch head high and moving to the left. Missed one that shot over my head out of reach, timed my jump and everything. Oh well. Webko got flogged for 49 from six overs. I bowled well, 6-2-11-1. Close match, just a couple of small lapses cost us. Never mind, can concentrate on Summer comp preparation now. Big season ahead, and looking forward to it.
