The End

Anyway, Lynndie England, Abu Graib cover-girl is going to jail for being a thug which is a good thing.

An officer and a gentleman finds himself at odds with "the way things are" and speaks out. He's one of these much vaunted American heroes, but i somehow suspect that his career as a soldier is over.

"Show me pictures of dead Iraqis and i'll show you my girlfriend's tits" deal gets US soldiers free porn.

Maggie's spirit shows in the Tory old guard
"I indicated at that point that perhaps the guillotine might be better.

"These are children you can't educate. It's merely a matter of caring for them until they die.

"The only difference between a terminally ill patient and a severely handicapped child is time."

Comedy Gold, from anyone but an elected official...

In "me" news:

i am unable to walk because the fucking Indians made me bat at one in 100+F heat because Princess Nitashu got out and then went home and they were all afraid of the bowling or something - so i finally got a decent bat without having to chase 70 off 7 with two wickets in hand which is what normally happens when they finally let me bat. 30 runs later, when my batting partner Raj has fainted from the heat because he, like me, is a fat bastard, and he, unlike me, has no heart because these fuckers are WEAK, i panicked against a shit-house spinner (this i blame Cameron for and his "attack the hell out of spinners" theory) and mis-hit a catch to midwicket.

They also made me wicketkeep in the heat and i wanted to pass out, had momentary dizzy spells and had spots before my eyes more than a couple of times. The umpire was a fucking cheat and turned down the PLUMBEST LBW i have seen for a long time. The next ball the batsman was trapped in a slightly less plumb LBW, which the umpire gave out of guilt. When our captain went down with an ankle injury and Mr Umpire suggested that we were all cripples because i was taking a two minute nap in the heat and Raj was also on the ground complaining about his back, i pointed out that he fit in nicely since he couldn't see. His response was that i had a big mouth, and i warned him that my big mouth was the one thing that would keep going until the end of the day. At least he served as a distraction from the heat.

At the end of the day the opposition captain who was nice enough to give me a ride to the game, took his team, and me and Pradeep, to an Indian eatery to celebrate their victory as it meant they would be promoted to the top division. They had a good old chinwag and there was much thanking of everyone's contribution over the season and how the new guys had come up so well, and the old buggers talking about how they nearly folded at the start of the season and how there was a new dynasty etc etc, it reminded me of a few years ago back with the apaches. nice to see a team that socialises post-game unlike the fucking Plano Tigers.

So anyway, i have given up on this politics thing. There are far too many americans living in a fantasy world, and / or unable to engage their brains long enough to think. I tried to ask the army boys what they thought about the British soldiers and what they might have been up to with a car full of guns and explosives while dressed as Iraqis. Their possible solutions: They soldiers had either gone mad, or were being paid. I asked them to reach to the very ends of their imagination and come up with the most fanciful story they could. Those were the best they could come up with. And there was no question of the legality of the jailbreak. It's all too hard and i am, despite all the protestations from other Americans, going to write this country off as "Here Be Morons" because while so many are lovely and have good hearts, they don't have the common sense that God gives a toad. Nor can they seem to shake their intolerance or ingrained hatreds. The comparison between the Australian racist elements and the American ones are hardly worth comparing because they are like the sand in an oyster and a nine mile beach.

In the end the Coalition forces will win in Iraq because they have got more money, but Iraq is unlikely to ever recover. Whether this will set in motion a chain of events that will make this a long drawn out engagement thatwill ultimately put every single one of our lives in jeopardy only time will tell, but the thought of travelling anywhere is really quite worrying. Add the complete and utter denial that exists over here about environmental damage, and i wonder if anyones children will have much of a world left to inherit.

The power of Corporations and the US Government to do completely as it wishes are enough to scare the fight out of anyone over here and i am told it is impossible to do anything about it, so just keep your head down and go to your job and scrape by wondering if you will have enough health insurance and whether or not you can afford to buy gas and eat this week. I mean what possible reason can the US Government have for buying large quantities of Anthrax? Of course, they are buying it so that no terrorist can go buy it. Or so they can learn how to de-fang it, and that's what i want to believe, but you know what, i don't.

Let us not forget the ridiculousness of the Intelligent Design debate, which is now going to court because ... you know i have no idea why. It's obvious to me, that this is a) garbage and b) nothing more than an arguement for the existence of God. Whether or not God/A God/A bunch or Gods/Pasta Jellyfish exists is a matter of personal choice, feel free to believe whatever you like, but why try to make your children DUMBER THAN THEY ALREADY ARE? Why teach them to be gullible, why make this a schooling issue. (If you read down this far you are very clever and you can come see me and get a tim-tam*) Teach them to move rocks with their minds at home, not in school, and if they can move rocks with their minds more power to you, and them! You get the edge. Hurrah for you. But considering Americans hate their schooling system, and realise it is shit and have no interest in a fair an equitable schooling system where everyone gets the chance to learn equally, why does anyone care? Let them teach Intelligent Design, don't you liberals and free thinkers force people to have a fair education, where you might learn, or god forbid learn how to think for yourself. I mean how bright do you have to be to shag an SMU kid anyway? Rent a porsche, buy beer for them and you can have five at a time.

I'm going to post this link http://projectcensored.org/ because i think it's really interesting, and you can all discount me as a liberal bleeding heart moonbat if you like, but you've kind of missed the point because the link is about what the corporate media didn't want to tell anyone - it's not about republicans or conservatives, and you know what, if that means that i don't go around with hate and fear on each shoulder then just let me. And if you don't like me suggesting that the majority of americans are too stupid and too brainwashed to think for themselves then just don't read my journal. I may be Australian and not have the freedom of speech that was written down for every American by a bunch of completely infallible guys back in the 1700's but you know what i don't care.

For those of you who ask me "If you hate America so much, why don't you leave?" my answer is, because it would be completely cowardly and ignorant of me to slag off America so if i had never been here. And if i had only been here then it could be discounted as a holiday and that doesn't really give you an indication of what life is really like. Yes, it's true that i have spent most of my time in Texas and it's full of hillbillies or something, or all Texans are gun toting maniacs, but from my brief stays in other places, i get the same senses that i did when i first came to Texas. Good people, but not encouraged to think. There's NOTHING WRONG WITH AMERICANS, there is however, something seriously wrong with the way that those with money can do whatever the fuck they want, to the point where they are all but completely unassailable (i am told). I am also told that "there is nothing i can do" by a number of people, and i can only counter that there must be something that one man can do, even if it means talking to another man, which gives you two, and you only need nine more for a soccer team, so how many do you need to change the way things are?

Anyway, i really don't need the headaches, so i am going to try to shut up about whatever the american government chooses to do. Too many people get in a tizz about it all, so just to make my last few weeks here easier for them and me i am going to try to let it slide. I realise that this is the same surrender that probably got the place like it currently is, and that there is no excuse for me doing this, but i am really really over it all right now. Maybe in a few weeks.
