The Bill

I spent most of yesterday watching episodes of the Bill. There's some 20th year celebration on cable, and they're showing episodes that have been particularly interesting, where they introduced a new characters, farewelled them, had pivotal episodes in chracters growth, or were just damn entertaining.

It's quite incredible that this show has continued this long. There have been format changes, it went for a period where it was hour long episodes, and then back to half hours, and then two half hours in a single week, with two crews and casts operating. In a similar fashion i guess to Smackdown and RAW in the WWE.

There's two characters that have been in the series pretty much non stop. That's 20 years on the one television show. Fucking hell. WPC June Ackland who i think is now a Sargeant, and Probationer Jim Carver, who has been into CID and then went back to uniform. These two actors, Trudie Goodwin and Mark Wingett, have seen it all - everything we the viewer has seen.

How the hell do they stick with it?
