30 Days of Supernatural: Day 18
Day 18 - Your favorite SPN romance
Sam/Ruby
I don't know if "romance" is the right word to use with Supernatural, ever. There are only three or four relationships that have ever been shown on that show that I'd even consider applying that word to, and Sam/Ruby, no matter how hard I ship it, isn't one of them. Still, this couple needs to be my answer. I can't say that there was love there. I think there was a connection, one deeper than we've seen Sam have with any woman onscreen, but with the blood...there's no way to know if it was any more than that, or just the addiction. Notice I didn't say his addiction; I think it was hers just as much as it was his. None of that changes my love for the dynamic they had, how they shared that torture of not being what they should be and yet wanting to take hold of and embrace that part of themselves they hate. His problem is obvious, but I think that, from the demonic perspective, whatever she had left of her humanity probably made her just as much of a "freak" or an "abomination". I think he brought out that side of her, just like she brought that darker nature out of him, and I can just imagine how much she must have hated that, how she felt for him, and maybe it was a good feeling she liked but she shouldn't feel it. I could seriously go on forever about how they are so good yet so bad for each other, but I'll just...stop here.
