I've acquired some new addictions of late -- most notably, crochet and Milo.
Crochet:
My mom did this a lot when I was young, less so in later years. She never taught me how to do it though. She taught me how to use a sewing machine and how to embroider, but not crochet. Somewhere in there, my sis taught me how to knit when I was around 7 or so. But when we left California, I stopped doing it for some odd reason.
Recently, I went prodding at youtube for how-to vids for both knitting and crochet. There's many many excellent ones for both and they made it easy to pick up the basics. But between the two, crochet has become... well... an addiction. Projects come together so quickly, while the one sitting on my knitting needles seems to take forever to even gain a single inch.
Milo:
This one can be blamed on Aussie friends I made though WoW. Once, a few years ago, I sat talking to one of them on vent, and we were talking about various food differences between the US and Australia. Malted Milk powder came up for some reason, and I was told about Milo. As it so happens, it's made by Nestle, who also makes Ovaltine. However, when you can compare the two side by side... well hell. Milo wins hands down. It's almost sad really, I used to LOVE Ovaltine, until I finally found a place in Austin I could buy Milo and got to try it.
There's no going back. The only downside, is that we rarely go as far north in Austin as we have to to hit the Vietnamese grocer that carries it. =)
