Not-So-Ancient History

My grandmother turned 93 today.

The 19th Amendment turned 90 today.

My grandmother lived in a time when women didn't have the right to vote. Granted, she was 3, she wasn't about to vote, but when we talk about feminism and equality, and rights, we're still talking about things that people close to us, people who raised us didn't have. I'm guilty of taking it for granted but those numbers made me stop and think. It's not so far off after all.

Unfortunately, my icon of the Criminal Minds actresses being shown the exit sign was given even more meaning today by the US Chamber of Commerce being fucking asshats.
