"Wrong, Wrong, Wrong!"

~ David Hewlett on why he likes playing Rodney McKay - he gets to say lines like that.

I was at a lovely dinner out last week, to wish kitchendinah a safe trip and congratulations, and luck with finding an apartment and all that good stuff, with heatherly and marag, and Mr. marag, and Mini-marag. Discussion turned, as it is wont to do, to fandom, and I said,

"Wow, I should be writing JAG fanfic. I was in the Navy, and now I live in Falls Church, and I'm going to law school. What else would I need?"

And one wise soul (marag?) says, "Yeah, but you could never read it."

And she was SO RIGHT. Because now I know too much.

So okay, what are your ares of expertise that have just jinxed you from certain fandoms/settings/tropes? Can't deal with the medicine in House fic? Anything set in Vegas trips your BS alarm? Aliens never made you have sex? (Er, ignore that last one.) No need to be a hater on this - it's just to laugh at yourself. Because we all have something we take too seriously. (Let's not revisit my service academy issues.)

Conversely, what do you just NOT care about? I, for instance, know very little about the medical field and even less about drugs so House goofs don't bother me in the least. I can read blatant wrongness all day long.

Bonus Round: Jaime Ray Newman to play Black Canary? Yay or nay?
