More Surreal Happenings....

I forgot to mention one of the more bizzare things that happened yesterday.

I walked over to my landlord's place to pay my rent, after I took out my garbage. Amusingly, I realized that I was wearing my "Rent" t-shirt. The landlady & I chat for a bit & then she says, "Oh, I thought you might be able to use this or it might be too gross. I don't know." And she hands me this little envelope. I dump it into my hand & I'm looking at what appears to be a small gold sculpture of three teeth. And then I realize that there's part of a tooth attached to one. She explained that it was an old bridge of hers that had to be taken out a while back but she thought since it's gold I might be able to use it.

It's a fairly hefty lump, I have to say. I'll have to weigh it but at a guess it's at least half an ounce, it could be over an ounce. If it is, she just handed me something that's worth almost two months rent. Not entirely sure how I make sure all the tooth bits are out of it, though.

Wow.

I realize that some folks might find the idea of handeling something that used to live in someone's mouth kinda gross, but I'm not even remotely bothered. Dude, it's *gold*. It's a couple of molars worth of solid, heavy gold. That's some seriously precious shit, there.

In answer to a question chronarchy asked a while back, it would seem that Jon Stewart does indeed inderstand art-- he made a joke with it during one of the rerun episodes they showed last night. Talking about Rumsfeld trying to spin something that was obviously bad by saying, "It depends on how you look at it", Jon finally suggested, "Perhaps if we looked at it as Abstract Expressionism. Ah, yes. Now it makes sense." As they popped up a picture of a Jackson Pollack. "They're paving the way for DeKooning..."

And today is sure to be a better day then yesterday-- we have coffee in the office. Which R, my new boss, declared to be a vital nutrient. I like him.

And I had a funny conversation with a tech & comm person. I confessed my deep hatred of the eeeevil WPS system & she laughed. "Everyone who actually knows how to do a website hates it." She did say that it was likely we'd be able to develop a template based off of my site design, though. :)

work, weird
