Wow. For an unemployed person, I'm certainly keeping busy!
First things first, since it's been a while since I really posted anything.
-I got approved for Medicaid- sort of. Maybe. Or not. I got a call a few weeks ago saying I was approved for medical.I got a letter today saying that I wasn't qualified for the coverage they gave me & they're taking it away. I'm confused & irritated, but at least I managed to get my prescriptions refilled-- it was a whooping $9 for all of them. Under my old insurance it was $120. My old insurance also sent me a letter today, inviting me to inquire about personal health coverage. They also sent me a *third* letter asking if I was really sure I hadn't hurt me knee falling at work or in a car accident. I'm half-tempted to apply just to find out how mind-boggling huge the premiums are or if they'll just deny me outright.
- I have some jewelry in a local gallery, Glass Growers. This is *the* gallery for art jewelry in Erie, so I'm quite excited. It's been there a month & I've already sold a few pieces, which is even more exciting.
-I've applied for some shows, including the Exhibition in Motion at the upcoming SNAG conference. I really hope I get that one. Ever since I saw the last EiM (at the Cleveland SNAG a few years ago) I've wanted to do a piece that's specifically for that exhibition where it's a piece made for dancing. The proposal is that I'll not only wear the piece but I'll perform in it as well. It's actually a set of pieces- a neck piece, a "pectoral" (aka bra-like top), & a belt. It took me a bit to come up with a design I was happy with- the key turned out to be making it very asymmetrical, which is kind of unusual in the bellydance world. I'll be making the larger pieces out of copper then having them plated because making them out of silver would be ridiculously expensive. I though about doing them in pewter but pewter handles much differently than silver & I don't think I have the time before the how to get enough of a handle on it & get the piece done. Since it's a performance piece (aka costume) rather than a gallery piece, I'll be going with pre-fab chains because they're cheaper & faster.
--there's a mouse in my lair. I'm not sure what it's living off of, exactly, since there's no food down here. Mom put poison out for it but it's still kicking. I tried to use this as leverage to convince Mom to let me get a cat (a specific cat who adopted me at a friend's place) but Mom said she'd rather have the mice. I wonder if Hannah would be able to catch it next time my Sister comes up. Of course, knowing Hannah, she'd think it was a toy & she'd drag it all over the house playing with it. "Look, Aunt Sharon! It even squeeks when I bite it!"
I've discovered that it's actually productive for me to have a table set up in front of my TV where I can work. IT's exactly the right kind of distraction for my loopy brain. Who;d have thought? I'm getting much more use out of my Netflix subscription now, I have to say. :-D The big one I've been repeating this past week (& most of last week) is Push-
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0465580/ - which is a really cool sci-fi/psychic powers flick. (Plus, Chris Evans is an extremely attractive guy, as well as being a fine actor)I've also caught Sunshine (A Danny Boyle flick with both Chris Evans & Cillian Murphy- very, very cool flick), Coraline (fantastic!)& Brazil, where I was amused to realize that Jonathon Pryce in his younger days looked a lot like my friend Rob Karney, who was the one who first told me about the movie & used to randomly start singing the theme song. Plus, I have watched the entire series of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
And so it goes....
