Well, we've now moved my computer & associated stuff down to the basement. Most of the room is pretty well cleared out- something I didn't expect to happen until after I moved out (& more than likely not before my Grandma passed away, considering how much of this stuff is hers). But it is & it looks like I'll be able to set the room up as a studio space/rec room. Yay! I'm going to volunteer to host Dedicant Program meetings here for the Snow Water folks (and any other local ADF folks who might want to drop by). I even have enough room to exercise & practice dance routines. Yay again! And I can watch movies & listen to music while I'm on the computer or working at my bench or whatever-- even after Mom goes to bed because it turns out this part of the basement has a sound-proof ceiling (it was my grandparent's party room. It has a bar) It's like I have my own lair. :-D
In the clean-up, I found further motivation to get my weight under control. We found my prom dress. I *loved* that dress- a beautiful black lace one with a handkerchief hem & a cute black satin jacket to match. After the prom, I wore it to some formal dances in college & a couple of parties in my Goth phase. Why is this motivation to lose weight? Because the thing was a size *3*. Seriously. I was a skinny chick. As it turned out, I was actually thinner than my rail-like sister, whose prom dress was a size 5. And who's *still* about a size 5. *sigh*
Mom had this crazy hope that moving the computer downstairs would somehow fix it. I tried to explain to her that they don't really work that way. As it happens, the thing's just gotten worse & worse. It's currently refusing to run Firefox. It's also randomly closing down programs without warning-- not to mention itself. Blue screens of death, random re-booting, just suddenly going black... my computer is, in a word, senile. Because it's old. Over 10 years old, in fact. I really need to figure out how to get a new one. Meanwhile, I've decided that there is a downside to getting everything moved downstairs-- my computer is now much closer to all of my hammers. It's *really* tempting to fix the thing with my 5 lb. sledge...
