Magpie's Back!
So I was asking Mom yesterday if she'd heard anything from the mechanic that's got my car. She informed me that I'd probably have to wait two more weeks to get my car back, with the holidays & all. "That puts a damper on the weekend," I thought.
And then the garage called this afternoon to let me know I could come pick her up. Yay! I got my car back, got my huge paycheck from all the work I did the last two weeks & got to hang out with my PG-mates. Whoo-ho!!! As an added bonus, the State Store happened to have 6-packs of Hornsby's Hard Cider as well as a nice bottle of Carolan's Irish Cream. (Half the price of Bailey's but just as good, in my opinion). They also had a really sweet Drambuie gift set but I knew that'd be splurging just a bit too much. (Unless I decided to use my gift money from Aunt D... hmm...)
At the party, it turned out that M had picked up the DVD of "HogFather". It's *brilliant*!!! For those unfamiliar with Hogfather, the Discworld or Terry Pratchett, it was described at "Nightmare Before Christmas" meets "Harry Potter". And it's completely, utterly, amazingly brilliant. Amusingly, M didn't realize that it was actually a miniseries & not a movie so she was a bit surprised when it was about 4 hours long. It's totally worth every minute, though. Death is incredibly funny. I haven't read the book so I don't know how it rates on the "Like/Unlike The Book" scale but I highly recommend it for some holiday fun.
