Without the jars of moonshine, the hut was almost empty. Radek had left them with Bond, figuring that was really the best place for them, and luckily, the other man had been up to making the trips. Because Radek wasn't sure he could make multiple trips. One had been enough ( Read more... )

As far as Jill knew, Radek hadn't gone to see anyone in the clinic about being sick, which sort of pissed her off and worried her at the same time. Something was obviously wrong with him and short of tying him down and taking his blood herself, she wasn't sure what else she could do.

Radek could hear Jill come in, and after a long moment, he opened his eyes and turned to look at her. He probably looked like shit, had when he'd gone to the Compound that morning.

He'd been afraid to shave, with the small tremor in his hands, and his eyes were red-rimmed. He hadn't eaten in a day, at least.

"Have you gone to see anyone yet?" Jill asked quietly when he opened his eyes and looked at her. If anything, he looked worse than he had a week ago and yet he'd claimed to be getting better, but she could see that he looked awful. And if he told her that he hadn't gone to see anyone, Jill was going to go get Carson now and bring him back to the hut so that he could look at Radek.

"I saw Carson," Radek said, rubbing his eyes and trying not to look at the whiskey, vodka and champagne that was still in the corner. It was hard not to.
