Christmas Win

It was late night on Christmas day, and Harry had to hide his smile in his book.
Buying gifts for Draco was a nightmare. Mostly it was a nightmare because Draco refused to be any sort of help, the wanker. (Which was a very lame insult considering the amount of sex they had, but still.)

Usually Harry found something that made Draco smile, or laugh, and on occasion kiss him. But he thinks today he finally found the magic gift.

Draco was already writing, the self-inking ever-lasting (and yet somehow refill-able, just don't ask Harry how) quill scratching away at the parchment.

To the world Draco Malfoy was all but a forgotten memory. Draco never went out in public as himself, if he left the manor or Harry's flat at all.

But many children, teenagers and adults lived in the worlds of Albert Porter, the author.
Harry had watched how the writing prices had cumulated over the years, how the editor drops of more and more fan mail (which Draco has not yet read once in fear that it would influence him, that it could destroy his little safeguard. He sends them thank you cards, though his editors with a small missives about his writing, his stories or whatever else he pleases. Each month on the 30th he would write a new card for the next month.

When Harry first started living with Draco, already knowing he was an "author" he thought writing was an easy job. Write a little every day and be done in a set amount of time. He misjudged the workload. And to be fair he also thinks that Draco made some sort of art form of scheduling stuff: in the morning he would write in his history books, then he would read, then he would brainstorm, and then read even more. There was a weird bi-weekly schedule about his chores and what sort of magic he wanted to learn for the month going on. And a lot more writing and reading.
Each day Harry gets Draco to stop writing and do something silly with him, he counts s a success.

It was also fun trying to figure out Draco's schedule. It was entertaining to watch but also fun to play games with himself.
Life with Draco was fun, even if nobody knew how lucky he was, and hat perfect partner he had found himself. In a way he relishes that too: Draco was all his, a secret he doesn't have to share, a piece of him that just belongs to him, and him alone.

"I can feel your smile, Potter."

"Oh, can you now?"

"Yes, I always could. But for today I shall let it slide, the quill is amazing, and the writing experience is fantastic. Thanks for such a lovely gift."

"Glad you like it."

"I still won't allow you to breed Hippogriffs in my backyard, you are aware?"

"Didn't even ask."

"For today. I know you are scheming, you always are."

"I love how well you know me, Draco."
The slight blush and the scratching on the paper again, as Draco started to win, told him, that he won that argument.
