Finally, my Comic-Con recap. :)
WARNING: Long entry and not really dial-up friendly (also contains nuts err videos).
We arrived in San Diego on Wednesday afternoon. Going to San Diego was a bit of an adventure because we don’t know anybody there so we had to figure out how we’re going to get around the city. We can’t rent a car because we’re umm.. underage (well, I’m underage and don’t know how to drive. :p I think we had to be at least 25 to rent a car. Boo) so we had to rely on public transit. It wasn’t that bad, really.
Okay, enough of that. Let’s get to the good parts.
Thursday
I didn’t go to any other panels except for the one for Fanboys because we had to make time to go to the beach. We are, after all, in California. I wasn’t sure if a lot of people are interested in the movie but just to be safe, we got there early and we caught the panel before that, Spotlight on George Romero. I didn’t know he was Canadian so that was interesting. Heh, I know you’re not really interested in that. :p Anyway, here’s a photo from that panel:
That’s George Romero and Max Brooks. I have a few more photos of them but I don’t think you’ll be interested. Heh.
And then they’re done! I tried to get a closer seat but I think some hardcore (Star Wars?) fans were there early. And this was my first panel so I didn’t really know what I was doing or what I’m supposed to do. Hehe. So they introduced the people who are going to be in the panel. My friend, Camille, jokingly asked me, “What if Kristen Bell can’t make it?”. I just laughed at her joke but I was really worried that she might not be there. I was starting to feel disappointed when they started the panel without any sign of KB.
Dan Fogler, Chris Marquette and director Kyle Newman
More of them. I was trying to distract myself so I’d forget the fact that KB wasn’t there. Yet. :)
After they showed a clip from the movie (they did that pretty much the entire time) and had some discussion about it, they introduced KB!
Yay, she’s heeere!! Oh, Veronica. I miss you. *tears*
I was beyond happy. She apologized for being late, she was stuck in traffic (yeah, it was pretty bad and I was one of the people causing it. Heh). They showed some more clips and I was more into it now that KB was there. Hehe.
Okay, I would want to put captions in all the photos but I’m not very good at that. And there are a lot of photos on this post and it will take me forever to post this if I have to put a caption on every single one. So we’ll stick to me just posting them and you hopefully enjoying it (although the photos are not all that great. My camera sucks). :)
By looks of it, they were showing a clip here. Of course, I wasn’t paying attention. It’s Kristen Bell! It’s Veronica! Heehee.
I actually enjoyed the clips they showed us. They were pretty funny. Even my friend, who is a bit picky as to what she likes, found it pretty funny. She said she might even buy the soundtrack if there is one since it’s going to have a lot of 80’s song. But I digress. Here are some photos from Camille’s camera, taken from the giant screen:
Questions were asked and there was this one girl who asked a question to KB. But before she asked her question, she said not so kind words about the CW for cancelling our beloved Veronica Mars. Oh, and she’s also a former employee of the CW. Ha! KB was surprised (or was it impressed? Haha) when she revealed this fact. She said, “Ohhh”. I wish I caught her expression on camera. She was cute. Oh yeah, when the girl mentioned the cancellation of Veronica Mars, she made a sad face and said “May she rest in peace.” Aww. Anyway, the girl asked about KB’s next projects and here’s her answer:
I think that’s it. Well, she joked about the fact that she wasn’t on the clips shown (she was only in one or two, I think) because she was late. She was really cute. She would joke around a lot and do her one-liners. Before I knew it, it was over. I think someone needed or was calling KB so she just waved real quick to the audience before leaving the stage. And so that was the first (and hopefully it won’t be the last) time I saw KB in person.
Friday
My friend and I went to the Convention early on Friday because she wants to be early for the Neil Gaiman panel. I just went with her to the Convention but we went separate ways when we got there. I wanted to go to as many panels as I can while her main reason for going was to see Neil Gaiman. So off she went to wherever the drawing for the autograph session was and I went to the Pilot Screening of Reaper. But as I’ve already mentioned in my previous entry, it was cancelled so I tried to look for another panel to go to just to kill time. I went to Hall H for the Warner Bros. panel. The line was really long but it was moving very quickly and fortunately, I was still able to go in. My seat was really far from the stage which means that I only took the photos from the giant screen but it was alright. I caught the panel for Get Smart, One Missed Call and Whiteout:
It’s The Rock! Hehe. I don’t really watch wrestling but I do know him. Then there’s funny man Steve Carrell (that reminds me, I still have a lot to catch up on The Office) and.. I’m sorry, I know you’re probably an important person but I have no idea who you are. If you know him, feel free to enlighten me. :)
Hiro Nakamura! Oh, so cute. Masi Oka and.. Nate Torrence. I think. Geez, I really suck at this.
It’s Hiro again! He didn’t say much during the panel. People mainly asked questions to The Rock and Steve Carell. Oh, and that’s Ken Davitian with Masi Oka.
Shannyn Sossamon and Edward Burns for One Missed Call. I was a bit annoyed at Shannyn Sossamon here because she doesn’t know how to answer the questions. But maybe she was just nervous since there were a lot of people and this may be her first Comic-Con. And I think I was bitter because they gave away iPhones for the people who asked questions and of course, I didn’t get one. Hehe. Anyway, moving on.
Kate Beckinsale for Whiteout. She was actually in the panel with Joel Silver since Joel produced this movie. Kate was late because of the traffic. When she got there, Joel Silver went backstage to escort her onstage. I think she’s pretty. And funny too. She kept cracking jokes the whole time. I’ve always liked her but after the panel, I liked her even more.
I left early because I wanted to get a good seat for the Moonlight panel, hoping that Jason Dohring will be there (the program says he’s in the cast but since his name wasn’t in bold and it didn’t say that he’s appearing in person, I wasn’t really expecting him to be there). I got there early and caught the end of the Fallen panel:
It was okay. They showed a short clip of the show. Kind of interesting. I just don’t think we get ABC Family here so I have to download it to watch it. A funny thing happened (not-so funny for the fans of the show) when the lead actor accidentally spoiled everyone about a character death. I didn’t mind since I don’t really watch the show. Heh.
Anyway, after their panel was Joel Silver’s panel which had two parts or segments. One was for the DVD release of Return to House on Haunted Hill which has an interactive feature where you can choose how the story will go. Very similar to the “Choose your own adventure” book. It was kinda interesting.
Of course I wasn’t paying that much attention. I was trying not to get my hopes up but I knew that if Jason wasn’t in the Moonlight panel, I’d be very disappointed. When Haunted Hill was about to end, I saw people coming in the door near the stage. And yes, Jason was one of them! If I didn’t have enough self control, I would’ve have squealed like an idiot. Seriously. It’s Jason Dohring. In the flesh. I won’t even try to put captions on all of them. Jason leaves me speechless. Hahaha. I’m a dork, I know. And without further ado, here he is.
Oh, Jason. You slay me. Heehee.
I took some photos of Jason with the other cast members because I didn’t want the people at the back think that I am obsessed with Jason. It didn’t matter that it’s true. Heehee.
I don’t only have photos, I have videos too! Haha.
I don’t remember what question he’s answering on this video. What? You can’t expect me to remember everything that’s happening around me when Jason is right in front of me! Hehe.
Here, I remember what the question was. Someone asked everyone to describe their character and here’s what Jason has to say about Josef. As expected, he was adorable. *sigh*
I don’t think anybody can get enough of Jason so here’s more!
And then it’s over. :( Hehe. I wanted to have my picture taken with him but the security was already escorting him to leave. Some girls were able to have their picture taken but I didn’t want to push it anymore. I might get thrown out of the convention centre. Heh, an exaggeration but maybe I should’ve fought for that picture. If If did get thrown out, it would have been worth it. Hahaha.
I was in cloud nine after that. I was going to the Chuck pilot screening next but it won’t start until more than half an hour later so I thought I had some time to go down to the exhibit hall to get the Moonlight freebie (which were just candles. Pfft. But hey, I saw Jason. That makes up for everything. Hehe). But when I got back, there was already a long line up for room 6B. Fortunately, I was still able to get in and I’m glad I did. I loved the show’s pilot. And the cast, especially the lead, Zachary Levi was so much fun. Here are a couple of photos from the panel:
This is Zachary Levi and Joshua Gomez re-enacting a scene from the pilot. Not funny enough? I got it on tape!
The scene is actually funnier than that. If you can, give it a try this fall. I think it will be on before Heroes on NBC.
Saturday
Oh, Saturday. Crazy Saturday. I wanted to go to the Pushing Daisies screening but it took forever for the trolley to get to the America Plaza station that I only caught the end of the pilot. It intrigued me so I’m going to check out the show this fall (is it this fall? Or is it a mid-season pick up? Oh well, I have to find out). I did stay a bit for the panel.
As much as I enjoyed the panel (Kristin Chenoweth was hilarious), I think it was a bad idea to stay as long as I did because I wasn’t able to get the Heroes panel because I got there too late. I should’ve left right after the pilot screening or just went straight to Ballroom 20. I would’ve been upset but I saw Jason yesterday and that made it all better, lol. But I do have some photos from the Heroes panel courtesy of my friend, Camille, for all you Heroes fans:
He is the only reason I was a bit disappointed that I wasn’t able to get in. Oh, Jess.
Zachary Quinto aka Sylar
Adrian Pasdar aka Nathan Petrelli and Greg Grunberg aka Matt Parkman
Greg Grunberg again but with Sendhil Ramamurthy aka Mohinder Suresh
Hayden Panettiere aka Claire Bennet
Ali Larter aka Niki Sanders
Jack Colemen aka Noah Bennet
Noah Gray-Cabey aka Micah Sanders
James Kyson Lee aka Ando (Masahashi) with Noah Gray-Cabey
One more time..
And another.. Heehee
That’s it for Heroes! Ha, I have a lot of photos even though I didn’t get in the panel. Do I hear you complaining? :p
While Camille was enjoying herself there, I just went to Hall H (no line!) and stayed there until the Marvel Studios panel. I caught the end of the Rogue Pictures panel but I didn’t get a chance to take any photos. After that was the Disney/Pixar panel. I started feeling sleepy during this panel due to lack of caffeine. I haven’t read the Narnia books so I wasn’t really interested on the Disney panel. Pixar was more interesting but not even the cuteness of Wall-E can keep me awake. Heh, no, I didn’t sleep but I almost did. Sorry, I was really tired and I didn’t even get in the panel I was looking forward to go to that day. I forgot to use the “I saw Jason yesterday” mentality to get me through it. Hehe.
But I was all better when it was time for the Marvel Studios panel. First stop, The Incredible Hulk:
I haven’t seen a lot of his works but I was impressed when I found out that he wrote the screenplay. And him as the Hulk? Should be interesting.
Live Tyler is so pretty and very.. calm? Soft-spoken. Her voice is very soothing. Hehe, I’m rambling.
That’s how far my camera’s zoom lens can go. So far.
Then there’s Ironman:
Robert Downey Jr was a lot of fun. And the trailer looks really good and they haven’t even done the CGI yet (is that how you say it? CGI effects? Ha, I know nothing)
I decided to catch the end of Joss Whedon’s panel after the Marvel Studios panel.
It was just him onstage, talking away and answering people’s questions. I only started watching Buffy recently so I’m not a hardcore fan. I wish I there’s something like this for Veronica Mars. *sigh* Oh well. Anyway, I also wanted to go to the Smallville panel after this but there was a huge line up and I was beat and cannot take another hour of standing in line (not to mention I still had to finish packing because our flight is at 6am) so I just headed home. The end, lol.
Phew. That was a lot of work. I wanted to write more but if I did, I might not be able to post this until September. Haha. Anyway, yeah, it was exhausting but going to the Comic-Con (and to California) was sooo worth it. :)
